We are looking for a Full-Time Statistician to join the UTHealth School of Public Health in Austin, TX. This statistician will join the new project entitled “Leveraging a Natural Experiment to Determine the Effects of Integrated Palliative Care on Health Service Outcomes and Disparities in Parkinson's Disease and Lewy Body Dementia”. The statistician will be responsible for becoming familiar with the databases and the existing coding, classifying the polypharmacy medications and comorbidities of the Medicare data to be summarized at the center level for the outcomes of interest. S/he will help with the transformation of the databases needed for each outcome detailed in the specific aims and the subpopulation analyses proposed in the study (e.g., sex as a biological variable, race/ethnicity, and quartiles of the social depravation score). S/he will correctly link across time the datasets from the organizational aspects of each site from the intervention with the created datasets from the Medicare datasets to examine the aims of the intervention at the center level. After the data has been linked, S/he will identify inconsistencies and narrow down the inclusion/exclusion criteria of participants for the secondary analysis under Dr. Pérez’s supervision. S/he will learn to check and conduct the statistical analyses for handling missing data with Dr Pérez training. Afterward, this Statistician, with Dr. Pérez’s help, will explore the associations and test the hypothesis proposed. Dr. Pérez and this Statistician will meet day to day to set up and understand the challenges of these databases quickly and to organize it for answering the specific aims proposed. S/he will meet with Dr. Pérez in the weekly team meeting to move forward with the secondary data analyses to ensure that all the statistical analyses are scientifically sound. The statistician will help to create the tables and figures for manuscripts. Responsible for the application of standard statistical methods for conducting analysis and preparing reports.
