SUMMARY: This position is responsible for stocking of shelves and rotating of product. Operating cash register when needed and responsible for assisting customers in a friendly and courteous manner. ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION: Practice courteous, friendly customer service at all times. Ensure proper vendor check-in according to store procedures. Stock and rotate product on shelves and displays as described in Associate Manual. Operate cash register when needed and be able to perform all related checkout procedures normally performed by the Cashier. Serve customers cheerfully and assists in packing customers’ purchases when requested in a fast and efficient manner. Assist in straightening and cleaning the back room and other areas of the store as directed. Straighten in-store cart corral, removes paper and miscellaneous items from carts. Monitor cart performance and removes any carts needing maintenance. Perform price checks as directed. Assist with the tear down and building of displays as directed by management. Insure the cleanliness and appearance of the front end equipment and physical areas, including parking lot, entryways, bathrooms and emptying cans. Knowledgeable of product location in the store. Use and maintain equipment properly and safely to avoid injury and to protect store equipment. Must have the ability to read and understand store policies and procedures and vendor invoices. Handle all other projects and duties as assigned. Must be dependable Must be well organized EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent experience, previous customer service or retail store experience preferred. Must be able to understand computer operations pertaining to vendor check in and able to read and understand product UPC codes. SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to handle multiple projects with changing priorities, and work in a fast paced environment. Mille Lacs Band Member and American Indian preference will be exercised in the hiring process. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze and interpret complicated documents, such as technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from guests, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, percentages, common fractions, and decimals. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an Associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to: Talk and hear; See and adjust focus to include close, distance, color, depth, and peripheral vision; Stand, walk, run, sit, balance, stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, and/or crawl; Handle objects, tools, and controls; reach with arms and hands. Must be able to lift or exert up to 70 pounds occasionally carrying bulk dog food, case cartons of milk or beverages, trash containers, etc. and moderate amounts of frequency. Must be able to climb a ladder to retrieve items stored in elevated or overhead racks or shelves located above refrigerated boxes, in stockrooms and other storage areas. Must be able to sweep and mop floors, dust and face shelves, and lift and carry out trash containers to be emptied in an outside bin. Must be able to stock coolers and shelves and endure working under temperature extremes in refrigerated storage areas up to 20 minutes at a time. WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to: A low-to-moderate noise level (offices). A moderate-to-loud noise level (operations areas).
