CIC hosts the Central Virginia Small Business Development Center (CV SBDC).

    POSITION TITLE: Loan Portfolio Manager

    A. JOB SUMMARY

    The Loan Portfolio Manager is a full-time professional position responsible for managing relationships with borrowers of CIC’s lending programs and serving as a loan officer. The manager works directly with entrepreneurs to support them during the loan application process and ongoing check-ins after loans are made. The ideal candidate would be a self-starter, patient, a strong communicator, and comfortable having engaging conversations. The Loan Portfolio Manager will report to CIC’s Director of Lending and Operations.

    B. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Within the limits of the CIC’s programs, policies, procedures, and budget, the Loan Portfolio Manager is responsible for and has authority to perform the duties listed below:

    PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT:

    • Manages a portfolio of active borrowers through database information input, maintenance, and payment collection.
    • Manages the closing process for new loans, paid in full loans, modified loans, and charged off loans.
    • Communicate with delinquent borrowers according to established process.
    • Manages collateral retention and individual borrower risk ratings.
    • Provides outstanding customer service to assist borrowers with any questions they may have about their current outstanding balances or any documentation needed.
    • Submits monthly and quarterly reports related to our active portfolio to the various agencies we collaborate with.
    • Supports the department through maintenance of electronic and paper borrower files.
    • Ensures records are complete and organized. Manages all aspects of the external collateral filings.
    • Assists with qualitative and quantitative analysis of loan portfolios.
    • Meets with and visits clients on a regular basis as part of the borrower check-in process.
    • Requests quarterly financial statements from borrowers and manages the annual financial review for all current borrowers.
    • Provides initial one-on-one technical assistance (TA) to borrowers within assigned portfolios depending on each business's unique needs and refers borrowers to other CIC programs for in-depth technical assistance.

    LOAN OFFICER:

    • Assists with community outreach and engagement to promote loan program and identify prospective applicants
    • Meets with potential borrowers to identify needs, readiness and guide through loan application process
    • Underwrites completed applications and presents to the CIC loan committee

    C. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • 1-2 years of working experience in business or nonprofit sectors
    • Ability to communicate effectively, gain trust, and work with low-income individuals of wide-ranging backgrounds
    • Ability to work effectively in a team and operate independently as tasks require.
    • Proficiency with G-suite and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Google sheets, Google folders, etc.)
    • Intermediate Excel skills with the ability to understand and write basic formulas, develop charts and graphs for presentations, and summarize large datasets.
    • Ability to learn loan management systems and databases, credit information systems, and public record research, such as DownHome Solutions, Transunion, Lenderfit, and CBA Reporter
    • Proactive, professional, and hardworking, with strong organizational and analytical skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

    D. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • B.A. or B.S. degree; preference for a degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Management or equivalent experience
    • Experience in micro-lending and/or business consulting
    • Experience as an entrepreneur, owning a business, or working for a startup business
    • Mastery of financial terms and understanding of the complexities of business finance
    • Knowledge of entrepreneurial life cycle and how businesses work
    • Financial certifications, licensures, or other forms of financial expertise

    E. COMPENSATION

    • Full time compensation of $50,000 to $60,000 annually plus health insurance, dental insurance, and retirement.
