Position available: Medical Records Clerk

Looking for an individual who works well with others and can also do well with independent work.

Job Description:

CHARTS ( Working out of 2 systems)

• New patients – check all hospitals for records (Flagler, Baptist, Memorial, St. Vincent, Coffee Regional) – check for labs ( Quest & Labcorp)
• Testing encounters – must write all diagnoses codes down (except for PETS & Nuclear Testing & Coumadin)
• Look for sameday testing follow ups and match with correct doctor (all encounters in the same chart)
• ABN’s need to be printed out for all Medicare patients
• Check for add-ons throughout the day
• Up to 150 patients a day (different locations)
• Making sure chart is complete and ready for physicians

EMAILS

• Check for records requests through emails
• Physician requests

MEDICAL RECORDS

• Patients wanting their records
• Attorneys & Insurances requesting records (must make an invoice for records)
• Other physicians requesting records (must be faxed in 1-2 days, STATS need to be faxed same day)
• Scan & Index request and fax confirmation into patients chart

FAXES

• All new patient referrals must be put in same day ( scanned and indexed in chart and given to insurance department (varies between 13 – 30 new patient referrals a day)
• Making a list of all referring doctors that come in through faxes that day (send list to Hayley)
• All prescriptions, anything requiring doctor signature, labs.. etc printed out and given to MA’s
• Medical Records requests (printed out and faxed or mailed)

PHONES

• Responsible for all phone calls & requests (every other day)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
