Position Summary
- The strategic planning analyst will assist the health system planning and business development department in analyzing and evaluation of strategic priorities, as well as Hospital Administration in conducting analysis of operational and financial data to support decision support. This role will provide support through the collection and interpretation of data to include market intelligence, organizational data, financial information, publicly reported data, and consumer experience information. The strategic planning analyst will assist with a number of projects through data analysis and will assist with the development of business plans and presentation materials. In addition, the planning analyst will support operations with various performance improvement initiatives to ensure that the organization meets targeted operational objectives.
Primary Position Responsibilities
- Ability to synthesize and summarize data from multiple sources into actionable reports and supporting presentations.
- Assists with analysis of financial data necessary for assessment and financial valuation of prospective opportunities.
- Conducts market research utilizing numerous data sources including publicly available sites and proprietary data sources to develop market share level reports by region, zip code, service areas, service lines, hospital, physician profiles and discharge type/procedures
- Supports the evaluation and development of growth strategies and analyzes program development opportunities across the organization's service area.
- Understands market projections and supporting background research to develop information around key business initiatives being investigated.
- Analyzes impact of healthcare trends, regulatory and legislative changes to existing engagements and prospective opportunities.
- Creates physician profiles to include key data for targeted opportunities, utilizing tools such as Crimson Market Share Advantage and Advisory Board Market Scenario Planner to create a standardized profile.
- Provide regular reports and analysis to support business needs, operational improvement initiatives and development.
Qualifications
- Minimum Education:
- Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Information Management/Technology, Data Science or related field

- Master’s Degree in Business, Data Science or Science in Analytics

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills and ability to articulate the logic behind decisions and use visualization methods.
- Knowledge of benchmark analysis, productivity reporting, key volume indicator development, variance reporting, and healthcare service delivery.
- Data analytics, reasoning skills, report design, and manipulation of multiple databases.
- Proficient in all MS Office applications; demonstrated advanced functionality of Excel and Access.
- Self-starter with ability to work creatively and analytically in a fast-paced, problem solving environment.
- Ability to organize and manage time effectively to complete tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
