Strategic Planning Director directs and oversees an organization's strategic and long-range goal planning function. Drives strategic initiatives and supports the development of long-term growth plans and profitability goals. Being a Strategic Planning Director analyzes emerging industry trends, expansion opportunities, including mergers and acquisitions, competitive threats, the viability of outside business partners, and sources of capital. Establishes and retains relationships with industry analysts and the investment community. Additionally, Strategic Planning Director utilizes data-driven methodologies to analyze business performance metrics and process improvement options effectively. Develops reporting and tools to communicate strategic plans and concepts to leadership. Conducts periodic status reviews of organizational goals and objectives to identify roadblocks to progress. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Strategic Planning Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. The hiring range for this position is from $108,740 - $201,600 annually. The City of El Paso offers a team-focused environment and a comprehensive benefits package, such as City pension, life insurance, vacation and sick leave days, City holidays, birthday holiday, health insurance options and a deferred compensation program.
Qualified applicants should possess a bachelor’s degree in business or public administration or related field, and six years of professional materials management, purchasing, or procurement experience, including two years of supervisory experience. Additionally, within one year of appointment, the candidate should obtain valid certification as a Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO) from the Universal Public Purchasing Certification Council.
