Structural Technologies is expanding our Heavy Civil division that focuses on the construction of new bridges, repair of existing bridges or special structures and water & wastewater tanks.
We are actively recruiting for a Field Engineer tied to our Heavy Civil division out of Dallas, TX.
Field Engineer Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Site based position monitoring schedules and resources to meet contractual work scope.
• Supervise on-site teams.
• Run field operations on-site, offering technical support, and troubleshooting on-site issues.
• Ensure on-site safety at all times while maintaining production efficiency.
• Report potential challenges and safety concerns, including all progress issues.
• Oversee equipment testing, maintenance, installation, and planning.
• Mitigate risk, ensure compliance, and evaluate environmental impact.
• Coordinate with other specialists around supplies and schedules.
• Stock management of materials and equipment.
• Procurement of materials, equipment and tools.
• Assist in reading & interpreting drawings, specifications for field crews and supervision
• Preparation of work plans & submittal packages.
• Assist in field surveying and layout work including elevations, control points, and compiling survey data into various software.
• Provide accurate information for job cost controls including scheduling, billings, & forecasting.
• Provide technical support in construction planning, quality control, design interpretation, construction methods, and design conflict resolution.
• Maintain project schedule updates.
• Support construction estimates with quantity takeoffs, production information, material supplier & subcontractor quote solicitation.
In order to apply for the position, candidates should as a minimum meet the following criteria:
• Associates or BS degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar construction related field.
• 1-5 years’ experience in heavy civil construction related work. Bridge construction related experience is preferred.
• Excellent problem-solving skills backed by solid technical knowledge.
• Good understanding of safety guidelines. Must be able to follow and lead safety meetings, discussions and overall company safety guidelines. Willingness and ability to become trained and certified in multiple safety categories including but not limited to CPR & First Aid, Fall Protection, manlift/scissor lift, OSHA 10/30, etc.
• Experience with quality assurance/quality control.
• Experience with land surveying.
• Strong interpersonal, written & verbal, speaking and active listening. Ability to present information in group settings.
• Technically savvy and computer literate. Proficiency in MS Word & Excel, Autocad, database related tools, survey familiarity. Ability to understand drawings, maps, reports, plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Strong multitasking abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and complete tasks in a timely manner.
• This is a field-based position on heavy civil bridge construction projects. Must be able to access all points on construction projects in varying climates.
Travel - National travel & relocation will be required for this position as business requires. Ability to travel and relocate as needed. NOTE: Could be a full-time relocation position as 1st job would be Laurel Fork, NC full-time at site from March 2024 to December 2024.
