Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive activities program that meets the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs of our senior residents
- Plan and organize a variety of recreational activities, such as arts and crafts, games, music therapy, exercise classes, and outings
- Coordinate special events and celebrations for holidays and birthdays
- Collaborate with your activities aides and other staff members to ensure the smooth execution of activities
- Manage the activity calendar and schedule activities based on resident preferences and abilities
- Assess individual resident needs and interests to personalize activity plans
- Provide support and guidance to residents during activities
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation in activities
- Stay up-to-date with current trends in memory care, senior care, and recreational therapy
Skills:
- Experience in memory care or senior care is highly preferred
- Active COTA or PTA certification or current NCCAP certification
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage schedules effectively
- Excellent event planning skills to create engaging activities for residents
- Knowledge of caregiving techniques and understanding of aging issues
- Familiarity with dementia care and the ability to adapt activities to meet individual needs
- Ability to assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with residents, families, and staff members
