Student Union Director directs and oversees all operations of the Student Union in accordance with the university or college's policies and procedures. Responsible for directing all functions including coordinating facility use, administering student services and activities, and ensuring proper safety and security measures. Being a Student Union Director supervises, hires, trains, and evaluates professional and student staff. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Student Union Director typically reports to top management. The Student Union Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. The Assistant Director of Multicultural Student Services (AD-MSS) leads initiatives and programs supporting Western’s strategic goals in equity, excellence, and inclusion for our students. The AD-MSS will support and lead an excellent team of professional staff and student employees. The AD-MSS will develop and lead co-curricular programs and create inclusive spaces supporting students’ retention and holistic development. This will include developing programs which center racial and ethnic identities, experiences, and histories, with a focus on marginalized and intersecting identities. These programs will provide opportunities for transformational learning, develop students’ skills in intercultural communication, community building, conflict resolution, and offer inclusive celebrations.
