Student Union Manager manages the operations of the Student Union in accordance with the university or college's policies and procedures. Responsible for managing all functions including coordinating facility use, administering student services and activities, and ensuring proper safety and security measures. Being a Student Union Manager supervises, hires, trains, and evaluates professional and student staff. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Student Union Manager typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Student Union Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Student Union Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. 2024 Appalachian Trail National Crew
Position: Crew Member
Location: Rangeley, ME
Duration: 4 weeks
The 2024 Appalachian Trail National Crew is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated high school students to join our team. As a Crew Member, you will work alongside two experienced SCA Crew Leaders to complete important projects on the Appalachian Trail. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the preservation of this iconic trail while immersing yourself in the breathtaking landscapes of the Appalachian Mountains.
Responsibilities:
- Install stone steps and perform trail work
- Camp at a primitive campsite with minimal amenities
- Participate in all camp activities, including cooking and camp chores
- Work five days a week with two rest days
- Plan educational and fun activities for rest days
- Take weekly trips into town for supply runs and cell service
Qualifications:
- High school student (ages 15-18)
- Passion for conservation and the outdoors
- Ability to work well in a team and follow instructions
- Physical fitness to handle outdoor work and hiking
- Willingness to participate in all aspects of camp life
Requirements:
- Commitment to a 4-week duration in the field
- Preparedness for primitive camping conditions
- Flexibility with work schedule and tasks
- Ability to adapt to limited cell service and electricity
