Subrogation Specialist is responsible for subrogation activities including the identification and research of subrogation claims. Assists in the recovery of overpayments for duplicate coverage, workers' compensation, and no-fault claims. Being a Subrogation Specialist identifies legal liability and pursues, negotiates, and settles subrogation collection. Researches paid claims, answers inquiries, and coordinates with other departments, insurance adjustors, attorneys, and members. Additionally, Subrogation Specialist interacts with policyholders, claimants, witnesses, and underwriters to recommend and document the necessary information to close a file. Collects information needed to determine when an on-site investigation is necessary. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Subrogation Specialist works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Required Skills & Education:
High school diploma with a minimum of five (5) years progressive and HVAC experience required. Must demonstrate understanding of automated controls and familiarity with cooling towers and a central plant for heating and cooling. Must provide current certifications and licenses required by the State of New Mexico, Construction Industries Division for refrigeration and boiler operations and maintenance. Must have experience performing skilled and semi-skilled maintenance work in craft areas, including plumbing, carpentry, electrical, cement finishing, locksmith, masonry, metal work, appliance repair, painting, plastering, roofing, sheet metal work and welding. Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions, read, interpret and work from sketches, diagrams and blueprints, and make cost estimates of time and materials. Ability to work independently and cooperatively. Must possess a current and valid New Mexico driver’s license. Willing to learn American Sign Language.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
Typical duties and responsibilities include preventative maintenance and repairs on HVAC equipment and walk-in refrigerators, and performing skilled and semi-skilled maintenance work in craft areas including plumbing, carpentry, electrical, cement finishing, locksmith, masonry, metal work, appliance repair, painting, plastering, roofing, sheet metal work and welding must be able to lift over 50 lbs. Required to help remove snow and ice from sidewalks and parking lots as needed.
