Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. Duties:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' substance abuse history, mental health, and social factors
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on clients' needs and goals
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions to address substance abuse issues
- Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques to facilitate behavior change and promote recovery
- Assist clients in developing coping skills and relapse prevention strategies
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and ensure comprehensive treatment
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical documentation and records
- Conduct crisis intervention as needed to ensure the safety and well-being of clients
- Collect data and participate in research activities to contribute to the field of substance abuse treatment
- Perform diagnostic evaluations using standardized assessment tools such as the ICD-10
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field
- Valid certification or license as a Substance Abuse Counselor (e.g., CADC, LCADC)
- Previous experience working in a hospital or clinical setting preferred
- Strong knowledge of substance abuse treatment modalities and evidence-based practices
- Familiarity with crisis management techniques and interventions
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to establish rapport with clients and create a supportive therapeutic environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
