Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Mental Health or Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide counseling and support to individuals struggling with substance abuse issues, helping them navigate the path to recovery.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments and develop individualized treatment plans for clients
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions
- Monitor and document client progress
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care
- Offer crisis intervention when needed
- Utilize therapeutic techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy and psychotherapy
- Lead group therapy sessions
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Master’s degree in human service field with post graduate experiences and clinical endorsement or related field
- Working towards Certification or licensure as a Substance Abuse Counselor (e.g., CAC or LAC) or licensure as a Mental Health Therapist (LCSW, LMSW, LPC, LCPC, LMFT, LAMFT). We will be willing to provide supervision for the right person to obtain these licensures or certifications.
- Experience in mental health counseling and patient care
- Knowledge of ICD-9 coding for accurate documentation
- Familiarity with crisis intervention strategies
- Ability to conduct assessments and develop treatment plans
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of group dynamics and group therapy techniques
