Surgeon - Orthopedic examines, diagnoses, and surgically treats musculoskeletal diseases and injuries. Performs surgical procedures to immobilize fractures by using corrective devices such as braces, pins, casts, and splints. Being a Surgeon - Orthopedic reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. Determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving desired outcome. Additionally, Surgeon - Orthopedic may provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Typically reports to a medical director. Requires a license to practice. The 1:5 orthopedic call is supported by an efficient Emergency Department and a strong team of Hospitalists. Our integrated practice provides on-site radiology, musculoskeletal PT and OT.

    • Position Summary
      • The Attending Physician will provide high quality medical care by examining patients and determining the appropriate treatment plans for illness or injuries.  Conducts examinations, assesses and evaluates symptoms, determines conditions, and prescribes medical treatment or services.  Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
    • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
      • Education:  Medical Degree (MD,DO)
      • License/Certifications: Current License in the State of Maine
      • Experience:  Medical residency training
      • Fellowship training to specialty (if applicable)
      • Basic computer skills
      • Ability to communicate effectively with others
