Surgeon - Orthopedic examines, diagnoses, and surgically treats musculoskeletal diseases and injuries. Performs surgical procedures to immobilize fractures by using corrective devices such as braces, pins, casts, and splints. Being a Surgeon - Orthopedic reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. Determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving desired outcome. Additionally, Surgeon - Orthopedic may provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Typically reports to a medical director. Requires a license to practice. Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC) currently employs two orthopedic surgeons. Our consistent year-over-year growth in this specialty is creating an opportunity for a third surgeon to join the team.
The ideal candidate would have a specific interest in sports medicine and upper extremity. Accomplished athletics at local and regional high schools, a local university and a very active community are creating this demand.
A typical week for our orthopedic surgeons involves at least 1 surgical day (more often 1.5), clinic and .5 days of administrative time.
Call is limited to one day a week and 2 weekends a month, with the opportunity to take on more for additional compensation.
