Surveillance Technician installs and removes various types of cameras throughout the establishment. Maintains, repairs, and installs alarms. Being a Surveillance Technician creates tapes for training and investigations. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Under the supervision of the Environmental Health Director, conducts surveillance activities including; mosquito trapping and tick dragging, identifying which mosquito and tick species are present; setting and maintaining bait traps; assisting with mosquito abatement measures if needed. Additional activities include, conducting community-based education activities for mosquito-borne and tick-borne diseases, including: developing and manning displays, creating power points, writing news releases and public service announcements,
developing educational materials, using social media, etc.
Employment Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma required. Some college coursework in the sciences preferred.
Experience & Required Skills:
Skill in the use of office equipment and technology, including Microsoft Suite applications, software programs utilized by the Community Health Agency, and the ability to learn new software programs applicable to the position.
