ABOUT THE POSITION
VHB’s Westbrook, Maine office has a need for a Geomatics Project Manager to join our growing team. The successful candidate must be knowledgeable in Geomatics for a variety of applications, including boundary determinations, topographic surveys, utility surveys, highway surveys, subdivisions, mobile lidar, terrestrial scanning and UAS. The position requires up-to-date knowledge of current technologies, and a proven ability to manage geomatics projects.
Responsibilities
- Manages projects, project staff including field and office professionals, and clients
- Project management, including management of budget, scope and schedule for small, moderate and large land survey projects
- Performance and/or oversight of surveying calculations
- Analysis and interpretation of public records research, including deeds, plans and other pertinent documents for the project
- Reviews and certifies work that staff has completed with a high-level of precision and accuracy
- Keeps accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe and certify work performed
- Coordination of field crews and Survey/CAD Technicians
- Perform field checks, manage quality control of all products
- Coordinate survey efforts with other groups in an integrated services environment
- Ability to perform “field to finish” land surveying projects
Skills and Attributes
- Must be knowledgeable in all aspects of Land Surveying, including legal requirements, boundary determinations and ALTA requirements
- Proficient in reading and understanding engineering, architectural, and structural drawings
- Expertise in data management and survey data processing software such as Trimble Business Center integration with ArcGIS
- Experience with survey data processing, control networks, and least squares adjustment
- Knowledge of local subdivision and zoning requirements
- Thorough understanding of the use of up-to-date survey technologies and interface with AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Ability to direct and monitor construction layout services
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills
- Motivated to lead and mentor others
Qualifications
- 5 years of professional land surveying/geomatics experience, including managing large-scale, complex land surveying projects
- High school diploma or GED required
- Degree in Survey Engineering, Geomatics, Geographic Information Systems, Engineering, or related field preferred
- Proficiency in all aspects of field and office land surveying including boundary line and topographic survey as well as construction stakeout
