Dream is looking for a Sustainability Manager

Dream Industrial’s European Asset Management Team (Dream Advisors) is currently looking for a Sustainability Manager who will be responsible for providing technical expertise and contributing to and playing a lead role in our impact, sustainability, environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives for our European Assets. This includes net zero goals for our owned and managed assets, developments and internal operations.
What will you do?
Below are some of the primary responsibilities you will be taking on in this role:
- Engage internal and external partners to help drive sustainability objectives and priorities.
- Provide internal advisory services on how emerging sustainability issues and opportunities impact the bottom line.
- Lead research, analysis, and business modelling for all impact and sustainability initiatives including low carbon transition and innovative energy solutions that impact energy consumption (e.g. solar panels, self-generation, carbon neutrality initiatives) and sustainability initiatives such as bee hives, green roofs, etc.).
- Support Dream’s Net Zero by 2035 Action Plan and lead net zero reporting, including CRREM analysis.
- Act as internal champion and lead coordination for solar photovoltaic and other renewable energy projects.
- Lead and perform collection, organization and verification of all ESG data, including utility data.
- Work with Asset Management, Property Management, Development and Sustainability teams and external consultants to proactively plan for compliance with current and upcoming EU directives and federal, provincial/state and municipal governmental regulations, including CSRD and CSDDD.
- Submit data to relevant authorities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and directives.
- Support green financing initiatives including the calculation and reporting of performance KPIs for sustainability-linked loans, as well as assessing eligibility of green projects in accordance with our Green Financing Framework.
- Work with Asset Management and Property Management to engage and collaborate with tenants on Landlord-led sustainability initiatives. This includes engaging with and providing training to third-party property managers.
- Contribute to the annual Sustainability Report and other reports that highlight our progress and performance against approved sustainability goals and commitments.
- Work with internal stakeholders including the Environmental Risk team to identify physical climate risks in our portfolio and develop climate adaptation and resiliency strategies to prepare for and mitigate risk.
- Develop and align the organization’s sustainability critical metrics that will be tracked, and engage with internal stakeholders to measure and report on these metrics.
- Perform research to routinely benchmark Dream relative to our European industry competitors on sustainability performance.
- Represent Dream on various external associations and working groups, including sharing key learnings and practices with internal partners.
- Lead and conduct periodic environmental scans of emerging climate change, environmental, social and governance issues and attitudinal changes to guide the ongoing evolution of our sustainability strategy.
- Contribute and lead GRESB certifications and analysis as well as work to improve scores to ensure upper quartile results.
- Lead building certification (BREEAM, DGNB etc.) and Energy Performance Certificate initiatives.
- Actively pursue sustainability-related subsidy and incentive opportunities and manage incentive applications for Dream Industrial.
What experience do you have?
These are some of the things we would like you to bring to the table:
- Preferable a master’s degree in a relevant field of study (Sustainability, Environment, Climate Change, Real Estate).
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience in Environmental, Sustainability, ESG or Impact sectors.
- Commercial real estate/ property management industry experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of applicable regulations (Dutch and European environmental regulations)
- Strategic thinker and agile problem solver, while simultaneously driving a rigorous, data-driven approach to understanding the environment and driving for results.
- Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholder groups and good communication skills (both Dutch and English).
- Strong quantitative/analytical skills. You know your way around Excel and are able to present your analysis in an organized and clear manner.
- Some financial analysis experience is an asset.
- Experience with design, implementation and coordination of solar photovoltaic and other renewable energy projects is an asset.
- Experience and knowledge of Green Bonds is an asset.
- The ideal candidate will most of all have a strong interest in sustainability / ESG.
