Responsibilities:
As the Environmental & Sustainability Manager you will be responsible for serving as a leader and subject matter expert (SME) in Sustainability and Environmental matters.
- Lead and support complex projects and assignments that support sustainability and environmental performance globally.
- Understanding the landscape of sustainability and it’s application to companies such as Spirit. Must have knowledge in this area so that a strategic approach can be implemented and followed.
- Excellent Project Management skills a must.
- Build innovative sustainability and environmental solutions for the operational teams utilizing data analytics, metrics, cultural insights, and other data sources.
- Provide guidance, direction, and leadership on strategies involving sustainability, engineering, and any other related areas.
- Provide counsel and leadership to operations leaders and associates regarding environmental compliance.
- Analyze data and identify trends across the network to create strategies and action plans to reduce waste, Green House Gases (GHG), and water usage.
- Assures compliance with organization and government environmental standards.
- Performs audits.
- Assesses the impact of emerging environmental issues, legislation, and regulations on company operations, and as a result develops, and implements appropriate programs.
- Works regularly with regulatory agencies, internal and external environmental contacts.
- Coordinates and conveys input into the developing legislation and regulatory programs by meeting with representatives of industry, regulatory agencies, government, and the public.
- Develops, implements, and monitors environmental projects and programs ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and permits and the mission, goals, and objectives of the company.
- Prepares permit applications and regulatory reports, if needed.
- Completes or reviews reports for submission to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
- Provide guidance and counsel to facility EHS representatives on sustainability and/or compliance topics.
- Responsible for: Tier 2 reporting, RSCA/REACH, HAZMAT, spill response coordination (as needed).
- Leads sustainability councils as required.
- Provide EHS program training to employees and leaders (if needed).
- Assist divisional team with developing and leading initiatives as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned by management from time-to-time.
Qualifications
Required Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental or Sustainability-related field.
- 5 (plus) years of previous EHS experience.
- Technical expertise in environmental regulations.
- Technical expertise in waste, GHG, and water reduction strategies.
- Ability to assist with Health and Safety responsibilities as needed.
- Project management skills.
- Previous experience working within DOT/IATA regulated businesses.
- Ability to lead and execute on a global scale.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to utilize and develop data management systems.
- Self-starter with strong technical leadership skills.
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the work group, as well as employees in other units, customers, and suppliers.
- Strong collaboration skills.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 suite and tools.
- The ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time.
