The Information Technology Division is actively seeking a Security Analyst.

This is professional work which involves maintaining and troubleshooting all aspects of the Information Security Technologies, specifically Information Security enforcement equipment and software such as web filtering, firewalls, and device management. Work requires knowledge of techniques, methods, and procedures used of many areas of personal computer hardware and software applications which involves the use of specialized skills which is acquired through a combination of training and considerable on the job experience. Contacts with others require skills in understanding and/or influencing people and are important in providing client services, including skills of persuasiveness, assertiveness, and sensitivity to others point of view that are required to influence behavior, change an opinion, or turn a situation around. The work is standardized in that tasks are covered by substantially diversified procedures and specialized standards, and because of the changing priorities, or different situations, incumbents have the latitude to consider which of the many procedures or standards should be followed and in what sequence. The work involves differing situations requiring use of judgment in search for solutions or new applications within ones' known experiences. The work is performed in an office environment. Operates standard office equipment such as personal computers. Operates a motor vehicle. After hours and on-call work is occasionally required. The physical demands consist mainly of sitting for extended periods of time. The work is performed under limited supervision where the work assignments are covered by the clearly defined processes. The worker plans and organizes the work, determines priorities, and the work is reviewed, usually after the fact, in terms of quality, volume, timeliness, and adherence to established practices and techniques.
- Provides Information Security tier 2/3 support to ITD groups and customers by serving as escalation point of contact for equipment and software such as web filtering, firewalls, and device management.
- Documents, maintains, and troubleshoots aspects of assigned information security technologies and recommends necessary improvements.
- Monitors public information requests; adheres to SLAs when providing timely responses.
- Performs hardware and software installations, upgrades and maintenance of information security infrastructure and components as directed primarily in the area of web filtering, firewalls, and device management.
- Researches, analyzes, tests, and compares new and existing web filtering, firewalls, and device management and equipment as required.
- Updates documentation of existing, new, and proposed information security architecture and configurations.
- Uses a network protocol analyzer efficiently (i.e. Observer, Wire Shark, etc.) to troubleshoot and gather network statistics.
- Uses information security monitoring tools efficiently and effectively (i.e. Blue Coat, OpenDNS, NortonDNS).
- Monitors and documents information security operational statistics (usage, performance, security/access, errors, availability, etc.).
- May lead, guide, or direct the work of others.
- Operates standard office equipment such as personal computer to include word, spreadsheet, database, and other related software.
- Demonstrates proficiency in the City of Jacksonville’s competencies.
- Performs related duties as required.
- Knowledge of security technologies and design.
- Ability to read, understand, and apply computer manuals and software instructions.
- Ability to gain proficiency in new technologies and acquire certifications as required.
- Ability to define, adopt, and follow repeatable processes for deployment and quality assurance.
- Ability to provide training on updated processes, procedures, or related items including technical skills.
- Ability to read, understand and apply technical hardware and software manuals.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment such as personal computer to include word, spreadsheet, database, and related software.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Five (5) years of education and/or experience in information technology which includes at least three (3) years of experience in security technologies and design.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:
A valid driver's license is required prior to appointment and must be maintained during employment in this class.
Must qualify for prior to appointment, obtain, and maintain during employment in this class a City of Jacksonville certification as a public driver.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
The probationary period for this class is six (6) months.
Depending upon assignment, may be required to obtain specialized certifications.
