Primarily responsible for the oversight and management of electronic medical record HIM workflows, related software applications and HIM Systems Administration activities. Works directly with Information Systems, the Health Information Management Administrative Director and others in developing and managing the efficiency, integrity and ongoing workflow requirements of the electronic patient record. Duties include assisting with planning, selection, and implementation of EMR upgrades and related system interfaces. Responsible for developing and assuring compliant EMR patient identity and chart correction workflows and policy and procedure development and maintenance. Works directly with HIM Systems Administrator and HIM Administrative Director on the HIM building component of EMR tables, files, related interfaces and directories for the EMR.
Associate's degree in Health Information Management or IT related field required. RHIA or RHIT credentials required. Preference to RHIAs. Three years of management experience or related training including at least one year of acute care experience in a Health Information Management Department. Two of the three years should be directly related to HIM systems or related technology troubleshooting and use. Knowledge in and the ability to apply the principles of HIM and related regulatory and documentation standards in the daily management of EMR workflow, related activities and projects.
