Description: Job Summary:
Responsible to the assigned supervisor for performing complex engineering work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient and economic accomplishment of assigned objectives. As a Project Engineer role, the candidate will manage engineering activities of multiple complex projects. Project types include solar and wind electric generating facilities, environmental retrofit to existing coal power plants. 3rd party Engineering firms and OEM will be responsible for the design. Prospective engineer will be the Company Engineering Lead for assigned projects and will be responsible to manage all aspects of engineering activities. The Engineer will coordinate with other Engineering Sections within Company to ensure proper engineering oversight.
Pay Rate: $40.13/hour
Principal Accountabilities:
Coordinate the overall engineering activities between Company, Developer, Architect Engineer (A/E), and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) for Generation capital projects. Ensure production of engineering deliverables is completed on schedule. Ensure the design meets stakeholder expectations. Ensure technical issues and constraints are resolved in a timely manner. Provide engineering progress updates to the project team and stakeholders.
Basic Qualifications:
Has typically acquired 6 or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelors degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*; or 4 years of related engineering experience along with a Masters degree or PhD in engineering from a program accredited by ABET*; Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico** is encouraged and preferred.
*ABET - Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. Acceptable alternatives are (1) a Bachelors degree in engineering (non-ABET), plus a Professional Engineers (PE) license in any state of the U.S. or (2) a Bachelors degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Masters degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelors program.
** Confirmation is required to ensure the PE obtained in Puerto Rico aligns with NCEES standards.
This is a hybrid position. Tues, Wed, Thurs in Columbus, OH.
Occasional Travel to Company generation facilities with some overnight travel will be required.
