Walker Tape® is hiring an Accounting Clerk to join our team!

The Accounting Clerk holds a critical role in bolstering the accounting department's operations. This individual will assist in performing a variety of accounting and bookkeeping tasks to support the accounting department and ensure efficient operation of the organization's financial functions. This role requires accuracy, efficiency, and a strong understanding of basic accounting principles. and assist in essential month-end procedures.

What are the Responsibilities?·        

Accurate Financial Data Management:

• Input financial data meticulously into the accounting system, encompassing invoices, expenses, and various transactions
• Ensure the punctual and precise recording of all financial transactions while verifying adherence to company fiscal policies.

General Ledger Maintenance and Reconciliation:

• Aid in maintaining the general ledger by reconciling accounts and promptly addressing any discrepancies.
• Prepare necessary journal entries to support month-end and year-end closing processes.

Invoice Processing and Compliance:

• Ensure all invoices and credit card charges comply with the company's fiscal policies and undergo the requisite approval process.
• Process vendor invoices, meticulously verifying their accuracy and adherence to established authorization procedures.

Accounts Oversight and Collection:

• Assist in the collection of accounts receivable and diligently follow up on overdue payments.
• Regularly reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts to guarantee accuracy and completeness.

Financial Reporting and Compliance:

• Support the preparation of financial statements and reports for review by management.
• Generate and analyze financial reports crucial for facilitating decision-making processes.
• Ensure strict adherence to accounting policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.

Process Improvement and Special Projects:

• Participate in assigned special projects and initiatives outlined by senior finance staff.
• Contribute innovative ideas to enhance process efficiency within the finance department.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Respond promptly to requests for various reports, ensuring timely delivery and accuracy.
• Provide guidance and support to the accounting staff to enhance team performance.
• Perform any other tasks as assigned

Do You Fit the Bill?

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills conducive to teamwork.
• Demonstrated eagerness to learn and embrace new challenges within the accounting domain.
• 3-5 years of Accounting Clerk experience.
• Associate degree in accounting or related field is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Extended periods of desk work involving computer usage.
• Ability to lift 15-20 pounds at a time when necessary.
