A great UHY client is seeking a Tax Accountant to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field and 0 to 2 years of position-related experience, excellent verbal and written communication skills, intermediate Microsoft Office skills, strong analytical skills and attention to detail, intellectual curiosity and a desire to learn, and the ability to travel within the US up to 10% is required.

The Tax Accountant position is a hybrid position with 2 days in office. This is a client direct hire position.

Tax Accountant Responsibilities:

• Prepares state and local tax documents including preparing property tax returns, sales/use tax returns and supporting schedules.
• Work with tax supervisor and tax manager and outside accounting firm to prepare federal and state income tax returns.
• Recommends tax strategies by researching federal, state, and local taxation issues.
• Maintains tax balance in general ledger, including the preparation of journal entries and reconciliations for selected accounts.
• Assists with internal/external audits.
• Identifies tax saving opportunities and process/technology improvements.
• Responds to notices and correspondence received from tax authorities.
• Maintain tax rates in computer systems.
• Advise non-tax personnel regarding tax issues, as necessary.

Tax Accountant Education & Experience:

• This job requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field and 0 to 2 years of position-related experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills are required.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are required.
• Intellectual curiosity and a desire to learn are essential.
• Ability to travel within the US up to 10% is required.
• Demonstrated interest in taxation is strongly preferred.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 is preferred.
• Experience with tax research software and/or compliance software is a plus.
