Responsible for developing tax saving plans and preparing legal documents involving liabilities. Being a Tax Attorney offers counsel on the impact of tax laws and preparation of tax activities. Requires a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. Additionally, Tax Attorney requires admittance to a state bar. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Tax Attorney work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a Tax Attorney typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. You would be expected to advise on: structuring tax-advantaged deals; formation/operation/restructuring of entities like partnerships, S corps, and REITs; tax credit opportunities in a variety of sectors; buy-side and sell-side corporate, LLC and partnership acquisitions, dispositions, mergers and restructurings; and other M&A activities like planning and research. You would work on a team that delivers due diligence and tax structuring services, and would communicate directly with clients. You would have the opportunity to participate in corporate matters from beginning to end, rather than only offering tax advice on an ad hoc basis.
Applicants should have significant federal tax experience in at least one of the previously mentioned areas. FL Bar admission is preferred but we are willing to consider attorneys who are relocating to FL and are not yet admitted.
