Tax Manager is responsible for managing the tax accounting staff and the tax planning, reporting, and compliance functions. Oversees the preparation of all tax filings and reporting in compliance with all required regulations. Being a Tax Manager evaluates the tax implications of company activities and develops strategies to minimize the tax obligations. Advises management on future changes to tax regulations and possible impact to the organization. Additionally, Tax Manager may manage and direct relationships with vendors and advisors. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to Tax Director or Top Tax Executive. The Tax Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. John G. Ullman & Associates, Inc. is seeking a Tax Preparer to join our firm. This is an essential position
in our firm that will play a significant role in our strategic plans.
This is an exciting time to join our firm as we continue to grow. As a Tax Preparer, you will have the
opportunity to join a highly trained and experienced tax services team. Located in our Big Flats
headquarters, the tax services team is a blend of CPA’s, Enrolled Agents, and tax professionals working
towards their tax professional designations.
In this position, the Tax Preparer will focus on the preparation of tax returns at various levels of
complexity. Initially, the focus will be on preparing tax returns ranging in complexity from simple to
medium. Through training and mentoring, the Tax Preparer will learn to work on tax returns of
increasing complexity as they gain more knowledge and experience.
Role:
Prepare Tax Returns: complexity can range from simple to medium.
Tax Planning: assume a role in tax planning. Assist in the preparations and review quarterly tax
projections to determine quarterly estimates to achieve the desired outcome for future filing of
tax returns.
Preparation of Other Entities: assume a role in the preparation process, including
partnerships, trusts, and gift tax returns.
Client Interactions: to clarify questions and data for the preparation of tax returns and
projections.
Research Tax Issues: answer client and Advisor queries.
Qualifications:
Excellent academic record; two-year college degree required, four-year college degree
preferred; graduate or advanced degree strongly preferred
A minimum of 1-3 years of tax experience
We will consider a pending and/or recent graduate with a mixture of academic and internship,
training; preference will be given to pending and/or recent graduates from an accredited
academic program that prepares graduates to sit for the CPA exam. Practical Tax experience
would be strongly preferred.
Must be willing and able to complete the requirements to receive the Enrolled Agent (EA)
designation. An active Enrolled Agent (EA) designation would be preferred. A CPA is strongly
preferred.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Proven track record as a self-starter, with high levels of intensity and motivation
Demonstrated passion for providing exceptional client service
Strong technical skills; experience working with tax specific applications (PRO System); BNA
Income Tax Preparer; Tax Research Tools and Software
Projected Hiring Range:
Hourly Rate $16.00 - $28.00
