Position Title: Paraprofessional

Job Responsibilities:

• Interacts with students, encourages their academic performance, monitors and observes student progress and meets instructional needs as they arise.
• Works with students in small groups or individually to reinforce basic skills, often without direct supervision.
• Shares observations and student progress with the classroom teacher.
• Assists instructional personnel with the development and presentation of learning materials and instructional exercises.
• Discusses assigned area with teacher to coordinate instructional efforts and any associated curriculum.
• Monitors and assists students through drill, practice, and study activities following the presentation of instructional concepts by instructional personnel.
• Assists in the management and shaping of student behavior through the use of positive reinforcement strategies.
• Maintains a high level of confidentiality regarding student matters and student related materials.
• Obtains supplies and necessary equipment for student activities.
• Performs various clerical functions such as: typing, computer entry, duplicating, student record keeping, monitoring assignments, maintaining accurate files, and other clerical duties as needed.
• Prepares and plans various teaching aids, such as cards, charts, graphs, and worksheets. Revises lesson plans or instructional materials, as needed.

Education: Associate’s degree (A.A.) or higher.

Experience: Background working in educational instruction and at least one year of experience working in an educational setting, which provides direct instruction to students preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19,000.00 - $23,000.00 per year
