Teacher High School jobs in Bremerton, WA

Teacher High School prepares lesson plans and instructs students in an assigned secondary school. Develops and implements grade appropriate course work, activities, and assessments to meet the academic needs of children in a grade 6-12 classroom setting. Being a Teacher High School evaluates and monitors student's performance. Assesses and documents students' progress. Additionally, Teacher High School participates in development and implementation of Individual Education Plans for specific students. Resolves classroom issues and conflicts. May participate in implementing special programs for students. May supervise teaching assistants. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require state-specific teaching license. Typically requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Typically reports to a principal. The Teacher High School occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. To be a Teacher High School typically requires 2 -4 years of related experience. (Copyright 2024 Salary.com)

    Qualifications:

    • Valid degree from an accredited college or university
    • Current Washington State Teaching Certificate with proper endorsements.
    • Have or can obtain clearance from Washington State Patrol and FBI background check

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master’s Degree in appropriate endorsement area. Multiple areas of endorsement.
    • Three to five years teaching experience in appropriate area

    Knowledge and Abilities:

    • Demonstrate effective instruction; facilitates engaged learning; and, can acquire and record quality evidence of learning through multiple types of assessments.
    • Demonstrate organizational skills and computer skills necessary for supporting instruction.
    • Ability to take and follow directions. Must understand and maintain confidentiality.
    • Creative and caring with commitment to education for all students.
    • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
    • Implement Common Core Standards and prepare students for state testing.
    • Demonstrate constructive and effective communication skills, both verbal and written, and work effectively with students, parents and cohorts

    • Meet and instruct classes at the location and the time designated.
    • Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students.
    • Create and maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate for individual interest and learning styles of students.
    • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals by establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and communicating these objectives to students.
    • Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required.
    • Maintain good order and discipline in the classroom at all times.
    • Attend staff meetings, department meetings and serve on building committees as required.
    • Work to establish open lines of communication with administration, fellow teachers, parents, and students.
    • Maintain a positive attitude, good work ethic, and demonstrate promptness in work arrival and in accomplishing all tasks.
    • Perform other necessary and reasonable duties as assigned.
