Teacher High School prepares lesson plans and instructs students in an assigned secondary school. Develops and implements grade appropriate course work, activities, and assessments to meet the academic needs of children in a grade 6-12 classroom setting. Being a Teacher High School evaluates and monitors student's performance. Assesses and documents students' progress. Additionally, Teacher High School participates in development and implementation of Individual Education Plans for specific students. Resolves classroom issues and conflicts. May participate in implementing special programs for students. May supervise teaching assistants. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require state-specific teaching license. Typically requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Typically reports to a principal. The Teacher High School occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Qualifications:

    Prior teaching experience is a must.

    FL Department of Education Teaching Certificate preferred. If lacking a teaching certificate, willingness to complete a post-baccalaureate program to earn a teaching certificate. Relevant college degree or equivalent education / passion for subject area.

    Ability to create a structured, creative, and positive classroom as well as adapt to a busy extra-curricular schedule are essential.

    Note: Teaching demonstration may be required during final stages of interviewing process. Fingerprint clearance card required for the successful candidate.

    Qualified and interested candidates should submit a resume, cover letter and the names and contacts of at least two professional references.

    Essential Functions

    • Instructs assigned classes in an engaging way at times designated (mostly afternoons).
    • Plans lessons that, as much as possible, meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students. Shows written evidence of preparation for each unit of study in advance.
    • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
    • Supervises students equipment, materials and facilities.
    • Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports, gradebook entry, and comments / parent communication.
    • Monitors the learning needs of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of specialists as required.
    • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct. Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure.
    • Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms (parent-teacher conferences in the fall, email / phone communication as needed).
    • Cooperatively plan with department heads, vertically and horizontally aligning curriculum and standards
    • Self-evaluates job performance & engages in ongoing professional growth.
    • Attends staff meetings as required.

    Job Type: Part-time

    Pay: $30.00 - $80.00 per hour
