Teacher Kindergarten prepares lessons and instructs students in an assigned elementary school's kindergarten. Develops and implements activities to meet the academic, developmental, and social needs of children in kindergarten classroom setting. Being a Teacher Kindergarten monitors and guides classroom behavior. Resolves classroom issues and conflicts. Additionally, Teacher Kindergarten assesses and documents students' progress. Participates in development and implementation of Individual Education Plans for specific students. May participate in implementing special programs for students. May supervise teaching assistants. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require state-specific teaching license. Typically requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Typically reports to a principal. The Teacher Kindergarten occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Specific Responsibilities: •Implement curricula to meet academic and 21st century standards; •Ensure student mastery of academic and behavioral standards; •Design and implement a variety of assessments to identify student needs and to measure student progress; •Use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices; •Participate in curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions; •Provide high and consistent academic and behavioral expectations for all students; •Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues in support of student learning; •Actively participate in on going embedded professional development and professional learning communities. Barton Graded School is located at the heart of the community. We are a K-8 school with an enrollment of 170 students. We strive to provide an atmosphere conducive to excellence in learning as well as social and emotional development. Furthermore, we believe that every child can learn and become successful. The Orleans Central Supervisory Union is comprised of two school districts (Lake Region Union Elementary-Middle School and Lake Region Union High School) supporting six K-8 elementary schools, the Orleans Central Early Childhood Program, and Lake Region Union High School. Orleans Central Supervisory Union is located in the heart of the Northeast Kingdom which is known for scenic and rugged area of hills, sugarbushes, farmland and lakes.
