    Job Description
    SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
    The College Corps Program of San Bernardino Community College District serves both campuses, Crafton Hills and San Bernardino Valley Colleges, with service to the community delivered by a cohort of competitively selected student fellows.
    The College Corps Program is housed in the Government Relations & Strategic Communications department led by the Associate Vice Chancellor of Government Relations & Strategic Communication. The incumbent will report to the Manager, College Corps Program.

    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
    • Interface with the public, potential student fellows and community host partners, and current stakeholders for the program regarding applications, MOU's, sensitive and private information (adhering to FERPA guidelines), recruitment, and other processes and policies of the program.
    • Manage in-person, email, phone and other forms of communication directed to the department including website inquiries and social media, flyers, distributing and advertising for events and workshops for potential and ongoing students and community host partners.
    • Have thorough and up-to-date knowledge on the program, grant, requirements, policies, and operational standards for the program.
    • Attend trainings, conferences, and professional development, as appropriate, virtually and in-person, to support compliance with the program/grant objectives and the mission, vision, values, and goals of SBCCD.
    • Use basic office machinery and software for organization, secure file storage, data management and reporting, and adherence to grant guidelines.
    • Support the manager of the program as well as the associate vice chancellor with events, workshops, campaigns, recruitment opportunities, volunteer service events, and other occurrences that support the growth and retention of student fellows involved in the program.
    • Referring student fellows and other members of the community to the appropriate district, campus, and community resources as it reasonably relates to the College Corps program.
    • Prepare, proofread, and publish documents, social media posts, emails, and other items with standard proper English grammar, spelling and punctuation. Knowledge of a language other than English is a plus.
    • Outreach and recruitment for the program especially as it relates to obtaining eligible student fellows and community host partners. This will involve some travel as well as virtual event hosting and attendance.
    • Coordinate one-time or short-term volunteer events with local non-profit organizations.
    • Other relevant duties as assigned.

    Qualifications
    QUALIFICATIONS
    The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to enter the job and/or learn within a short period of time in order to complete the tasks and duties successfully.
    Knowledge of:


    • The cultural, linguistic, and socio-economic diversity of the greater San Bernardino area
    • Common college practices and cycles as it relates to the program such as financial aid or course registration
    • Typing, word processing, flyer and other document creation, emails, newsletters, and other methods of communication
    • Proper phone etiquette as well as professional verbal communication including presentations and acting as a representative of the program
    • Basic event planning and management skills including facility or venue reservation, contracts, equipment setup, traffic, parking and maps, accessibility, and event feedback
    • Basic data collection practices, analysis, compilation and research
    • Proficient skill in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
    • Principles of physical and digital filing and retrieval

    Ability to:
    • Respond to inquiries from the public, current students, faculty, staff and administrators, and community partner organizations in a tactful and timely in a tactful and timely manner.
    • Demonstrate sensitivity and understanding of members of diverse racial, ethnic, ability levels, and other groups in an inclusive and intentional way.
    • Multi-task and manage competing and overlapping projects using time efficiently.
    • Work self-sufficiently with minimal supervision, reserved for unusual or escalated situations.
    • Interpret and apply training, basic knowledge, local and federal laws and district policies to everyday work.

    Education and Experience:
    • An associate degree or equivalent, 60 or more semester units completed at a regionally accredited postsecondary institution.
    • Two years of work experience in program assistance, customer service, or an office/clerical environment.
    • A valid California Driver's License and/or reliable transportation to and and/or reliable transportation to and from the regular office space and offsite events.
    • A strong proficiency in the English language and its conventions of spelling, grammar, and punctuation

    • Some work is performed outdoors, offsite at community venues, with some exposure to weather, heat or cold outside of room temperature, noise and other elements
    • Event support will involve a significant amount of standing, kneeling, lifting boxes and equipment, stooping, bending, pushing, and repetitive hand movements for things like usage of a keyboard/standard desktop computer, with or without accommodation.
