Pay: $25 to $27 hr.

Job Summary:

Responsible for independently operating both CNC and manual machine tools to produce precision metal and plastic parts. Responsible for setup and production of small batches and one-offs in an extremely low-volume custom-engineered production environment that produces made-to-order OEM equipment and parts. Ability to work confidently and independently with minimum of work instruction, producing small batches that meet precise specifications with zero scrap or setup pieces. Ideal candidate will be a resource for engineering, helping them create best machining processes and tailoring the designs to work within the capabilities of the existing equipment.

Primary Responsibilities

Operate machine tools with little to no supervision such as Doosan lathe, G&L boring bar milling machines, Haas milling machines, chop saw, as well as manual grinders, Polish lathes, and Bridgeport machine tools to produce metal parts.

Overall coordination of workflow to machining centers, ensuring operators follow production priorities and meet standard times and quality standards.

Review and accurately interpret written blueprints or specifications for jobs.

Ability to trig calculations on where and how to cut or bore.

Shape mild and D2 steel, bronze, and other materials.

Safely rigging to load heavy parts and fabrications onto machining centers.

Determine how fast or slow workpiece is fed into machine.

Determine how much material to remove.

Select proper tools and materials for the job.

Plan the sequence of cutting and finishing operations.

Safely and accurately position workpiece on the saw, drill press, lathe, or milling machine.

Monitor and control feed rate and speed.

Ensure workpiece is properly lubricated and/or cooled.

Detect problems by listening for specific sounds.

Adjust cutting speeds and feeds for best processing time, finish, and tool life.

Monitor the accuracy of cuts.

Perform basic maintenance and PMs of all equipment, fixturing, and tooling.

Replace dull cutting tools as necessary to produce good parts.

Concert path, speed, and feed information into set of instructions for machine tool.

High proficiency use of manual and computer-controlled machinery.

High proficiency with manual, CAM, and conversational programs.
