JOB PURPOSE:
Serve as head of the Circulation Unit at the Main Library. This position is based at the Main Library, but on occasion they may be required to work at other locations. Work is performed with independence under the supervision of the Faculty Librarian.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides circulation services and reference assistance to library patrons.
- Assists library patrons in use of computer equipment and software.
- Assists library patrons in use of bibliographic tools, electronic resources, reference works and in finding items in the collection.
- Answers phones, takes messages, processes the incoming mail, and provides information to library patrons.
- Assists patrons find materials located in the library. Performs basic reference interviews in person or via phone.
- Processes purchases for the library using appropriate software. Handles all serials interactions including subscriptions, processing, claims, maintenance, and inventory.
- Maintains library collection that includes discharging and re-shelving books, organizing periodicals and non-text material. Processes incoming material using the appropriate bibliographic tools needed to integrate into the collection. Updates electronic resources and software when needed.
- Prepares exhibits or displays.
- Participates in formulating policies on book selections, service programs, publicity and public relations.
- Provides back-up support for supervisor/Librarian.
- Participates in special projects or other tasks when necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as Manager on Duty in the absence of the Main Library Manager.
- Hire, train, supervise, schedule and evaluate Main Library Circulation Staff.
- Facilitate and manage money handling to include, but not limited to, daily revenue reports, cash management reports, reconciling cash register, daily bank deposits, and coin-op machine.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree or combination of higher education degree and experience..
- Three years work experience in an academic, special, or research library.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Valid and clean state driver's license.
- Must be able to pass background check, with NO prior convictions of any felonies and no history of child abuse and/or neglect.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to frequently stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, and squat.
- Use hands for dexterity of motion, repetitive movement of both hands.
- Ability to use arms to reach and lift above shoulders.
- Have normal auditory, visual acuity, and verbal communications skills.
- The employee must occasionally push, lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
