Technical Illustrator creates illustrations for use in technical manuals, product specifications, maintenance documents, advertisements, and other media. Utilizes a variety of graphic files, photo images, and sketches to create detailed technical illustrations. Being a Technical Illustrator produces 3-D, cutaway, or exploded views of objects. Familiar and proficient with graphic illustration and CAD software tools. Additionally, Technical Illustrator typically requires an associate degree in art, design, or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Technical Illustrator independently performs a wide range of complex duties under general guidance from supervisors. Armstrong Teasdale is seeking a Technical Illustrator to join its team. The Technical Illustrator prepares detailed drawings for submittal with patent applications in both the United States and abroad. This position works closely with attorneys and clients to prepare these drawings.

1. Prepares and revises technical drawings (using CAD software (AutoCAD, Solidworks, etc.), Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Visio), based on guidelines received from attorneys and/or clients2. Coordinates and maintains database of all technical drawings submitted with patent applications 3. Contacts outside contractors as necessary or as requested to prepare technical drawings4. Takes photographs of prototypes5. Reviews and submits for approval invoices from outside contractorsCompetencies:

Required Experience: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, MS Office, Visio, and Outlook.
Preferred Experience: Experience in a professional firm. Proficiency in 3D CAD software, SOLIDWORKS.
