Technical Librarian develops and maintains a collection of technical information and provides research and reference support to researchers, scientists, and engineers. Builds an extensive network of technical information resources and contacts from various sources like government agencies, universities, professional and industry associations to obtain the required information. Being a Technical Librarian communicates with researchers to develop and maintain a broad knowledge and understanding of the organization's relevant topics and effectively target technical publications as information sources. Creates abstracts, bibliographies, and metadata to classify the information. Additionally, Technical Librarian obtains translations of literature as needed. Supports and maintains the library's technology infrastructure and information retrieval tools. Typically requires a master's degree in library science. Typically reports to a manager. The Technical Librarian work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a Technical Librarian typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Legacy Early College is a K4-12 public charter school that originated through the vision of William Brown in 2010 with an unwavering focus on “To and Through College” at every grade level. Legacy’s model combines academics, nutrition, physical fitness and mental health. POSITION OVERVIEW
Legacy Early College (“Legacy”) seeks an Elementary School Library Media Specialist. The Library Media Specialist serves as an instructional leader who advocates for and works towards access for all to information, media and literature in a variety of forms and for diverse purposes. As an instructional leader, the Library Media Specialist acts as an advocate and support for information access, a teacher, instructional consultant, and media manager to ensure that the library media operations and resources are a fully integrated part of the instructional program of the school and promote contemporary learners and learning.
