Technical Librarian develops and maintains a collection of technical information and provides research and reference support to researchers, scientists, and engineers. Builds an extensive network of technical information resources and contacts from various sources like government agencies, universities, professional and industry associations to obtain the required information. Being a Technical Librarian communicates with researchers to develop and maintain a broad knowledge and understanding of the organization's relevant topics and effectively target technical publications as information sources. Creates abstracts, bibliographies, and metadata to classify the information. Additionally, Technical Librarian obtains translations of literature as needed. Supports and maintains the library's technology infrastructure and information retrieval tools. Typically requires a master's degree in library science. Typically reports to a manager. JOB DESCRIPTION:
To provide the faculty and students with an enriched school library environment in support of student learning by using a multitude of resources and experiences for students that will enhance the curriculum, invite intellectual growth and develop productive use of leisure time.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs technical responsibilities required to provide exemplary library service as part of an effective and successful educational facility.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university; Valid Alabama school librarian certificate; Must meet Every Student Succeed Act (ESSA) federal and state requirements or a willingness to meet the requirements within the designated timeframe; Such above qualifications as the Board may require.
