Technical Librarian develops and maintains a collection of technical information and provides research and reference support to researchers, scientists, and engineers. Builds an extensive network of technical information resources and contacts from various sources like government agencies, universities, professional and industry associations to obtain the required information. Being a Technical Librarian communicates with researchers to develop and maintain a broad knowledge and understanding of the organization's relevant topics and effectively target technical publications as information sources. Creates abstracts, bibliographies, and metadata to classify the information. Additionally, Technical Librarian obtains translations of literature as needed. Supports and maintains the library's technology infrastructure and information retrieval tools. Typically requires a master's degree in library science. Typically reports to a manager. The Technical Librarian work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a Technical Librarian typically requires 0-2 years of related experience.     POSITION OVERVIEW: The test center administrator will manage the day-to-day operations of the testing center. Will establish, implement, and enforce test center policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and standards. Will ensure all mandatory protocols are met regarding ID verification, security, and academic integrity. Oversee scheduling and handle administrative tasks. Will directly proctor test activities. Performs varied clerical work in issuing and receiving library books and periodicals and assists users in using library services and facilities.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

    A) Testing Center

    1. Oversee all testing responsibilities as an administrator for the testing center. Caring for scheduling, management, and proctoring exams.
    2. Deal with examinees throughout their entire testing session ethically and professionally.
    3. Abiding by each testing center’s rules and regulations to ensure the quality and security of testing. This may include dismissing candidates, reporting misconduct, and other related tasks.
    4. Ensuring all test stations are in clean working order before and after every tester and/or workload.
    5. Cross-train others and ensure the others run the testing center periodically.


    B) Circulation:

    1. Lend and collect books, periodicals, and other materials at circulation desks.
    2. Update the library automation system periodically, including adding new users and deleting users no longer enrolled.
    3. Maintain records of received, stored, issued, and returned items and file catalog cards according to the system used.
    4. Sort books, publications, and other items according to established procedures and return them to shelves, files, or other designated storage areas.
    5. Instruct users on how to use reference sources.
    6. Inspect returned books for condition and due date status and compute any applicable fines.
    7. Answer routine inquiries and refer users needing professional assistance to librarians.
    8. Perform clerical activities such as filing, typing, word processing, photocopying, mailing out material, and mail sorting.
    9. Take action to deal with disruptive or problem users.
    10. Classify and catalog items according to content and purpose.
    11. Register new users and issue borrower identification cards that permit users to borrow books and other materials.
    12. Send notices and accept fine payments for lost or overdue books.
    13. Prepare, store, and retrieve classification and catalog information, lecture notes, or other information related to stored documents.
    14. Review records to identify titles of overdue materials and delinquent borrowers.
    15. Repair books using mending tape, paste, and brushes.
    16. Facilitate the acquisition of books, pamphlets, periodicals, and audiovisual materials by checking prices, figuring costs, and preparing appropriate order forms.
    17. Assist in the preparation of book displays.
    18. Ensure the Library is always clean and orderly
    19. Perform library orientations in the absence of the Librarian.
    20. Ensure students have I.D. badges issued within three days of starting school and visitor passes.


    C) Daily/Weekly Duties:

    1. Verify students' passes in the library during instructional time.
    2. Ensure users fill out the sign-in sheet accurately and legibly (there should always be a form and pen/pencil available).
    3. Pick up books and magazines used throughout the day, log the numbers on the stat sheet, and re-shelve. 
    4. Information on catalog and database use should always be available. 
    5. Monitor student behavior and take necessary action in case of misbehavior. 
    6. Do shelf reading
    7. Maintain Library clean and neat at all times
    8. Taking a section each day, dust the shelves, books, and glass doors (if any) so that, by the end of the week, all books and shelves have been dusted. 
    9. Scan copies of certifications of WTC students to program directors and the front desk.


    D) Administrative Duties:

    1. Present library orientations or skills instruction as needed (online catalog, research databases, etc.)
    2. Assist with scheduling of classes with the Librarian and Instructor. Obtain all pertinent information (instructor name, number of students, topic(s) of research, and special needs such as orientation or skills instructions. 
    3. Perform library orientations in the absence of the Librarian.
    4. Ensure that students have I.D. badges issued within three days of starting.
    5. Upload the student ID picture into the student information system.
    6. Create student IDs for incoming students or replacement IDs for current students.
    7. Assist registrars with the LDA report and in calling students.  Call students when they are due from LOA two weeks prior to their return. Prepare LDA report weekly.
    8. Attend and take notes in PAC meetings and prepare the minutes within three days after the meetings, paying attention to grammar and using effective writing skills.

    Requirements

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

    1. Minimum of an associate degree.
    2. Research experience preferred.
    3. Must be able to work flexible hours.
    4. In the case of telework, an employee is responsible for ensuring that they have the needed equipment and technology to perform the essential job functions (e.g., cell phone, internet).
    5. Must have a personal cell phone to be used with the MFA.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

    1. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English and Spanish fluently.
    2. Strong verbal, written, and communication skills, plus analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
    3. Excellent writing skills
    4. Must be customer service oriented.
    5. Ability to meet or exceed the company’s attendance and punctuality standards.
    6. Ability to evaluate objectively, fairly, and consistently.
    7. Creativity and initiative.
    8. Ability to operate a computer and other normal office equipment.
    9. Must possess excellent telephone skills.
    10. Familiarity with the Dewey Decimal System.
