Job Summary:
9 AF (AFCENT) is USCENTCOM’s air component command to support critical planning and execution functions, during peacetime, contingencies, and wartime functions. The 9 AF (AFCENT) A3, Director of Operations, is (AFCENT)’s Operational Planning Team (OPT) lead for all basing options and planning Combat Operation Actions for all directorates. (AFCENT) A3 as the lead in these areas directly supports USCENTCOM’s ability to respond to requirements for the war fighter. The purpose of this effort is to provide the required systems engineering, operational planning, support functions, training, and integration to 9 AF (AFCENT) A3 in their support of USCENTCOM mission requirements going forward.
Job Responsibilities:
Schedules, organize, monitors, and evaluates unit exercises to maximize training.
Assist with identifying and publishing unit AOC divisional, team, and positional training requirements and processes to be exercised during recurring training events and exercises.
Develop and validate field designed scenarios and associated exercise and training materials.
Attend planning conferences to include development, initial, mid, and final planning conferences for at least four exercises per year.
Assist in the evaluation of the supporting exercise training systems as they impact training.
Lead and train unit exercise control cells in support of monthly local unit exercises (minimum of 4 annually).
Provide monthly training on unit simulation and communications equipment to include Part Task Trainer and any other modeling and simulation capability provided to unit.
Assist in development and maintenance of the MSEL for locally generated unit exercises, higher headquarters exercises or training scenarios.
Perform as trainers of unit personnel on site and at deployed exercise locations for at least two (2) exercises per year.
Assist in the planning and execution of at least four (4) major exercises per year.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in any field or five (5) years of experience with the Air Operations Center or Theater Air Control System (TACS) is mandatory.
Three years of experience at the USAFCENT, NAF or other service equivalent headquarters level.
Contract personnel must be familiar with the AOC Weapon System and AOC operational training requirements and have at least five years of experience in an AOC or TACS.
Must be capable of working independently and must be able to review current and future training and exercise plans, AF instructions, and joint publications with the purpose of making recommendations on improving them as well as incorporating them into unit training programs.
Must be skilled in the use of software/hardware/e-mail systems (Microsoft Office) currently in use by USAFCENT.
Must possess a US Top Secret/SCI clearance.
