Overview
Position will provide support to students with disabilities transitioning to the college environment and oversee implementation of disability-related accommodations.

Responsibilities
Coordinate the transition of students with disabilities to college environment
- Administer accommodated placement tests (Next Gen Accuplacer, TEAS, DMS Spatial)
- Provide information to potential students, parents, guardians, and community agencies regarding admissions process, documentation requirements, and accommodation process.
- Develop and facilitate workshops to facilitate student transition to college environment.
- Follow up with referred and new students to encourage utilization of services and schedule accommodation planning appointments. Create and maintain a referral list.
- Maintain materials for distribution to high schools, agencies, and potential students.
- Respond to inquiries by current students, perspective students, parents, and/or staff members.
- Compile, maintain, and submit data related to grant activities.
- Collaborate with Access & Accommodations Coordinator to develop and implement procedures, create forms, and fulfill grant requirements.
- Document within the case management system interactions with/about students.
- Follow FERPA guidelines and maintain confidentiality of student records.
- Review testing accommodation request forms, policies, and procedures with students.
- Contact instructors, review process, and coordinate specific testing details for students.
- Schedule appointments and administer/proctor accommodated classroom and placement tests.
- Maintain database related to test requests, room usage, instructor contacts etc.
- Notify proctors at satellite campuses of student requests and student accommodations.
- Collaborate with Testing Center staff to develop policies and procedures.
- Scribe tests as needed.
- Evaluate need for, demonstrate, and train students on use of assistive technology.
- Research and procure new equipment and software through vendors, conferences, and other sources as needed.
- Troubleshoot issues with adaptive equipment/software in collaboration with IT department.
- Remain current with adaptive technology and software trends.
- Oversee process for checking out items to students and maintain inventory.
- Procure, produce, distribute, and monitor use of alternative media.
- Maintain inventory of digital media.
- Recruit, train, and monitor classroom note takers.
- Provide students individualized instruction on note taking, reading, testing, study, organizational, and other academic strategies.
- Act as point of contact for students who need referral to advising, Financial Aid Office, or other resources.
- Strong communication skills including interpersonal and written.
- Strong computer skills
- Understanding of FERPA & HIPPA as it relates to work with students with disabilities.
- Understanding of adaptive technology to assist students seeking accommodations.
- Associate Degree in education or related field.
- Two years of professional work experience in human services, disability services, or a related area.
