Title: Production Support Technician – Locomotive Manufacturing Support

Location:    GE Transportation (A Wabtec Company) – Erie, PA

Job Description:

The Production Support Technician is responsible for providing support for programs involved in the re-manufacturing and manufacturing of locomotive upgrades and retrofits.  These efforts include managing multiple projects related to manufacturing and assembly.  This position will also be key in bridging production operations and the Design authority to support manufacturing and assembly of rail equipment and systems.  In addition, the position will work closely with Quality and Sourcing to improve products regarding cost and reliability by evaluating First Article Inspections (FAI).

Responsibilities:

-   Works within defined parameters to make decisions and apply concepts to issues of high complexity in a fast-paced environment.

-   Ability to resolve issues through immediate action, short-term planning and basic problem solving.

-   Support engineering to develops and fulfill planning for assigned projects.

-   Provide support to manufacturing, disposition of nonconforming material, develop repair procedures.

-   Ensures reliability and compliance with quality specifications by using mechanical creativity and hands on experience from previous assignments.

Desired Skills:

-   Experience with managing multiple projects simultaneously.

-   Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities.

-   Familiarity with CNC and manual machining operations.

-   Knowledge of mechanical design and manufacturing processes (Lean-Six Sigma/APQP etc.).

-   Background involving mechanical assembly.

-   Experience with GD&T and manufacturing from “print to part”.

-   Knowledge or experience working in a heavy fabrication environment.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Experience in a technical role, supporting fabrication and mechanical assemblies. An Associates in Science is preferred but not required.
