The Town of Dennis, MA seeks dynamic individual for the full-time (40 hrs./wk.) position of MIS Technical Support Specialist.
The Technical Support Specialist is responsible for providing end user support with problems relating to hardware, phone systems, software, vendor, Public Access TV Station 8, and computer network issues. Employee is required to perform all similar or related duties. The MIS Technical Support Specialist works under the general direction of the MIS Director.
Duties include, but not limited to:
1. Responsible for providing support to end users for computer-related issues including hardware, software, network, and vendor issues. Occasionally the position will require communication with vendors to troubleshoot or perform updates. This position will be responsible for inventory of all IT Department assets
2. Employee performs network monitoring and troubleshooting in order to maintain network security from computer viruses as well as unauthorized users.
3. May also assist in managing in-studio and remote field cable productions, special projects, and government channel outreach activities.
4. Researches and resolves computer or network related problems; provides on-the-job training support for Town employees on the effective application of software and hardware.
5. Provides maintenance and performs routine repairs to computers, printers, and video equipment as needed. This includes OS updates and patching of all town workstations to ensure smooth operation and security patches are applied.
6. Assists the MIS Director in designing and updating short and long-range technology plans as well as server maintenance, upgrades and operation. Performing similar or related work as required as the situation dictates.
7. Position may require occasionally working outside normal business hours at the direction of the MIS Director.
Associate’s degree preferably in computer science or a comparable field with three to five (3-5) years related work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Starting Annual Salary: $71,135 plus full benefit package.
