The Turnaround (TA) Material Coordinator and Expeditor play a pivotal role in facilitating the smooth execution of turnaround projects by managing material procurement, tracking, and expediting. This position involves close collaboration with the TA team, procurement department, offsite warehouse, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of required materials. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating material needs, tracking orders, reporting delays, and escalating concerns to ensure uninterrupted project progress.
Main Responsibilities:
- Request bids for long lead materials, place orders, and expedite deliveries.
- Interface with Procurement (Operational Buyers) to facilitate material procurement.
- Requisition TA material needs in accordance with Turnaround Ordering Procedures.
- Manage and track TA Bill of Material (BOM) orders, including pre-fabrication materials.
- Provide regular status updates on material orders, report delays, and escalate concerns as needed.
- Coordinate availability of surplus materials with TA Specialist before ordering.
- Coordinate TA capital and expense material procurement activities.
- Liaise with various departments (reliability, inspection, operations, PCT groups) to assess additional material and tool needs.
- Verify item descriptions, commodity codes, and SAP numbers in the procurement catalog.
- Utilize existing Covestro materials order processes and maintain detailed expediting records.
- Attend TA meetings, TA Peer Reviews, and provide reports to TA management.
- Notify TA MM team of incoming materials to warehouse and coordinate equipment resources for off-loading.
- Coordinate offsite repair of items and equipment during execution.
- Collaborate with onsite material laydown team to plan job kits based on schedule lookaheads.
- Assist in coordinating the return of unused consignment material to vendors after TA completion.
- Review and analyze vendor performance and communicate results to TA management and Procurement.
General Comments:
- High School diploma required; additional certifications or education preferred.
- Experience in material control field with knowledge of Material Control practices and internal control objectives.
- Proficiency in SAP, Business Warehouse, and Microsoft tools.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Must have or be able to acquire Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC).
