Position Overview
The position is responsible for technical writing, editing and publishing for technical reports and technical data packages for all projects.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedures, systems engineering deliverables, engineering specifications, and related technical reports to communicate technical concepts and metrics to a wide range of audiences
- Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, engineering illustrations, and trade journals
- Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts
- Conducts quality review of deliverable material
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Support bids and proposals via proposal writing and review
- Utilize manufacturers and trade catalogs, drawings and other data relative to operation,
- maintenance, and service of equipment
- Select photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to best illustrate material
- Create/modify illustrations to enhance specified materials or assembly sequence
- Interpret contract requirements and communicate compliance approach in both verbal and meeting presentation format
- Assist with creation, duplication, and distribution of material
Required Qualifications:
- Must demonstrate proficiency in utilizing report structure including development of covers, TOC, footnoting, cross-referencing, table development, document comparison
- Must be able to executive brief summarization, reports, appendices, footnoting, table building, and editing
- Must be able to Incorporate multiple tables from Excel into report; photographs to be sized, edited, input and referenced; all pages to be numbered with chapter or appendix, and then update tables and TOC
- Understanding of engineering is a plus
- Experienced English and grammar editor to edit reports
- Some projects may require extended hours in order to meet client deadlines
- Must communicate effectively and interact well with people
- Advanced proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Required Education:
- BS in Technical Writing, English, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
Travel Requirement: 5%
