REPORTS TO: Directly: ILS Technical Writer Lead Indirectly: ILS Manager SUPERVISES: N/A AUTHORITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for development and preparation of all assigned equipment manuals, system/special manuals and other technical data products: Writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences Review Vendor Furnished Information to ensure compliance with contractual requirements by following provided checklists and technical manual plans Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations and trade journals. Preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts. Interfaces with subject matter experts and other engineering personnel during the development of these products. Responsible for interfacing with OEMs/Suppliers to obtain Vendor Furnished Information as needed Responsible for ensuring all change order activity that impacts assigned technical manuals is processed and documented within assigned technical data products Successful applicant must be willing to cross-train to other areas within ILS as necessary QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE: Excellent written and oral communication skills Experience interacting with internal and external customers High School diploma or equivalent required. Related degrees advantageous Computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office products Prior U.S. Navy, MSC or USCG experience desired, but not required TOOLS: MS Office Adobe Acrobat DIRECTION EXERCISED: Will determine the technical adequacy of all technical manual deliverables DISCRETION EXERCISED: None LIAISES WITH: Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Equipment Suppliers and ILS Support Contractors ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES: The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance may be required if deemed necessary in the scope of your position responsibilities. Candidates must meet the following employment eligibility guidelines to be considered for employment with Austal USA: 18 years of age or older at time of application.
