Position Summary:

Assistant Professor of English/Technical Writing Specialist

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:

• Excellent organizational and management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders as well as excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Training in composition pedagogy.
• Demonstrated commitment to promoting equitable literacy practices and creating inclusive, accessible learning environments for diverse populations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Specialization in professional writing and technical communication.

Education and Experience:

• A record of scholarship and publication or evidence of a productive research agenda.
• Previous experience with or preparation for teaching courses in professional writing and rhetoric and composition.
• Ph.D. in English, Technical Communication, Rhetoric, Writing Studies, or a related discipline by start date of appointment.
• Evidence of experience working with underprepared and diverse student population.
• Established record of publication as well as experience and excellence in teaching a variety of courses in specialty.
• Upon hired an official sealed transcript is required.

Physical Requirements:

• Light sedentary office work.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Prolonged periods of standing/walking.
