Position DetailsGeneral StatementThe George Laboratory is seeking a Lab Manager with experience and skills in the day to day operations of running and managing a research laboratory.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesRESPONSIBILITIES- Oversee the daily operations of the laboratory including ordering of supplies, preparation of reagents, and the general organization of the lab
- Budgeting
- Administration of research grants
- Assist the Primary Investigator in the preparation and submission of grant proposals including NIH R03, R15, R16, R21, R25 and R01 grants
- Independently design, implement, and trouble shoot experiments
- Assist in the writing of manuscripts for publication
- Prepare manuscripts and figures for submission to peer-reviewed journals
- Oversee laboratory safety policies • Independently develop lab methods and procedures
- Maintain a detailed written record of all laboratory experiments
- Instruct and train technicians and undergraduate student interns
- Periodic travel to MSU Bozeman for animal work
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & SkillsQUALIFICATIONS- Two or more years of previous experience in a research laboratory
- Laboratory skills in molecular biology including DNA and RNA purification, protein isolation, cloning, PCR, qRTCPR, Western Blot Analysis, and ELISA
- Experience in immunohistochemistry and fluorescence microscopy
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment
- Proficiency in Excel and performing basic statistical analyses including calculating mean, standard deviation, standard error, and P value
- Experience preparing documents for publication
- Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred
