Department Overview
The Pricing Products organization within PG&E's Customer Products organization focuses on driving positive customer experiences through an array of rates and programs that help customers better relate to and manage their energy usage and energy bills. Pricing products take advantage of Smart Meter capabilities that are currently being implemented across PG&E's service territory and integrate them with advancements in rates and online tools.
Position Summary
California has ambitious clean energy, electrification and load management goals that will require new ways of managing and optimizing the grid. PG&E is developing new Dynamic Rates that will test the ability of using price signals to manage customers’ end-use devices with Agricultural, Residential and Non-residential customer segments and with end uses like EVs, electrification appliances, batteries and commercial energy loads.
The Pricing Products team is seeking an experienced Program Manager to lead program operations for the Dynamic Rate pilots. The Program Manager will be responsible for developing and owning the detailed operational processes required to run all aspects of the Dynamic Rate Pilots. This will include enrollment, billing, rebates, customer support and vendor management workstreams. The successful candidate must be able to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and work collaboratively with stakeholders on a seamless customer experience, and will also be required to conduct quantitative analytical work and qualitative work to support metrics tracking and measurement/evaluation.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and Oakland, CA based approximately once per week or more, depending on business needs.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $122,000.00
Bay Area Maximum: $194,000.00
Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be required to:
- Analyze data and develop metrics to understand program impacts, identify trends and opportunities, and manage exceptions.
- Develop and manage third-party partner relationships, including working with other utility service providers, CCAs, automation service providers and energy-related organizations to assess complimentary and competitive offerings and leverage innovative components and approaches to the products.
- Identify and maintain strong working relationships with other strategic programs and partners.
- Work with directors and managers across functions to influence decisions.
- Communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences using a variety of media.
- Provide others with guidance around complex industry regulatory and compliance environment and considerations.
- Manage budgets to ensure individual and combined budgets are on track and forecasts are accurate.
- Develop and maintain key performance metrics and management reports to track and measure product and program effectiveness and drive continuous improvement activities
- Assure adherence to regulatory compliance policies and support regulatory activities by providing content for regulatory filings, writing testimony, responding to data requests, and meeting with regulators and other investor owned utility partners.
- Serve as PG&E’s subject matter expert for rate engine thought leadership, content and technology information and articulating product features and benefits to key stakeholders, and supporting channels as needed.
- Perform in-depth quality assurance final reviews and contract drafts.
- Develop new or revise existing scopes of work to ensure compliance standards and deliverables are established.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, engineering or related field or equivalent work experience
- 8 years of related experience in program, product and/or project management
Desired:
- Advanced knowledge of Load Modifying/Demand Response programs, policies and operations
- Advanced knowledge of rates, tariffs and billing practices
- Advanced knowledge of project management
- Experience working in energy management and/or utility rate design
- Analytical problem solving to drive appropriate strategy for the product – business model, partnerships, key features etc.
- Developing business plans for building new products and improving existing products
- Working cross-functionally to develop, launch and maintain product
- Natural bias towards analytical thinking, problem-solving and continuous improvement
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Ability to present complex information and concepts in a concise way
