Seasonal Telecommunication Utility Laborer

  • Kitsap Public Utility District (KPUD) is seeking a highly motivated individual to perform various Telecommunication system maintenance tasks as a Seasonal Telecom Utility Laborer with the possibility to move to a permanent position.

    Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

    • Demonstrate a strong commitment to Kitsap PUD’s core values when working alone, within a team and with customers and vendors.
    • Support the installation, maintenance, and updates of the fiber optic network.
    • Assist in operational tests on all system components that can include testing equipment for fiber for continuity.
    • Assist in testing and troubleshooting fiber using an OTDR, optical power meter and fiber identifier and scope.
    • Perform other work-related tasks, as assigned.

    Job Related Qualifications:

    • Valid Washington State driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
    • Required to pass flagging cert (Class provided by KPUD)
    • Must be at least 18yrs old.
    • High school graduate or GED.
    • Ability to carry, climb, and operate an extension ladder (approx. 28 ft high and 75 pounds).
    • Ability to lift and move up to 100lbs.
    • Ability to perform job from high places, such as poles and roofs.
    • Ability to use construction equipment and hand tools.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

    Regular Shift

    Monday – Thursday

    6:30 AM – 5 PM
