Telecommunications Director is responsible for the strategic planning and design of an organization's telecommunications systems. Develops policies and procedures for installing and maintaining telecommunications equipment. Being a Telecommunications Director plans and manages complex installation or repair projects. Assesses current and future telecommunications needs and researches and plans improvements to meet those requirements. Additionally, Telecommunications Director trains and develops staff. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Telecommunications Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Telecommunications Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     Responsible for the installation and maintenance of telecommunications assets supporting IKAV’s oil and gas operations. This individual must be proficient in theory, design, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of microwave and terrestrial communications systems. In addition, the telecommunications technician will also troubleshoot and maintain low voltage DC solar and battery power systems supporting the communications infrastructure.

    Requirements

      

    • Requirements Proficiency with WhatsUp Gold.
    • Proficiency with GE MDS radios, including iNET-II, S Series SDR, and Transnet.
    • Proficiency with TCP/IP networking, including 802.1Q VLANS, routing, routing protocols, and general network design principles.
    • Proficiency with common command line tools.
    • Proficiency supporting uninterruptible power supplies with network management.
    • Knowledgeable in coax cable terminations.
    • Knowledgeable in antenna theory and its practical application.
    • Proficiency with common RF measurement tools including spectrum analyzers and vector      network analyzers.
    • Proficiency with hand tools.
    • Proficiency with basic DC electrical troubleshooting.
    • Proficiency in working in and around oilfield equipment and sites. 
    • Knowledge in project management is desirable.
