TITLE: 911 Operator
DEPARTMENT: 911 Center
LOCATION: Lowndes County – 911 Center
SALARY RANGE: $16.98 per hour
JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for receiving emergency and administrative calls from the public and dispatching the appropriate emergency personnel. Provides guidance to callers until emergency personnel arrive on the scene and pre-arrival instructions on medical calls.
MINIMUM TRAINING: Position requires employees to work rotating shifts, including night shift. Selection process includes a criminal background check and an employer provided post offer of employment physical and drug screen and psychological fitness evaluation. Applicants must be 18 years or older, a U.S. citizen, have a high school diploma or GED equivalent, have no felony convictions, no pattern of criminal misconduct or a less than honorable discharge from the military. Applicants must successfully pass an entry level pre-employment skills examination. Requires the possession of or ability to readily obtain GCIC/NCIC and POST certifications within 6 months of employment.
